Lee Roy Selmon's life story blends the virtues of family football scholarships and volunteerism in the community. He is the youngest child from Lucious Selmon, and Jessie Semon. They raised him on the farm they owned in Eufala. A second reason was Selmon is the youngest of three brothers who played with Oklahoma. Three of them were All-Americans. Lucious Jr. Dewey was a starter for the entire 1973 season. Lee Roy has won both the Outland Award as well as the Lombardi award as the top lineman in America. In his time as the starting quarterback for Oklahoma and Sooners' starting quarterback, they went 32-1-1 and won two national titles. He received a third scholarship in 1975. He was also designated a National Football Foundation Student-Athlete. Selmon holds a bachelor's degree in education. Lee Roy spent ten hours every week in volunteer work throughout his time at college. Following college, he relocated into Tampa and played for nine years with the Buccaneers. He was an All-Pro three times. After that, he began his professional career. In 1988, he was an Account Relation Officer at Tampa's First Florida Bank and worked on the following groups: Special Olympics Easter Seals Baptist Church Ronald McDonald House United Negro College Fund South Florida Institute on the Black Life Hall of Fame Bowl Committee. So it's not surprising that In 1982, the Junior Chamber of Commerce named him one of the nation's most outstanding young men. Lee Roy was 6'2" tall and weighed 265 lbs during his time playing college football. In 1975, he was on the team. team. He joined the University of South Florida as the associate director of athletics. In 1988, he was inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame. The same year, he also was a part of his way into the GTE Academic All-America Hall of Fame as well as the Pro Football Hall of Fame. Parents, Lucious as well as Mary Selmon, Jr. received the Distinguished American Award in 1989 from the Oklahoma City Chapter National Football Foundation.
