Anna Paquin is a Canadian and New Zealand actress. Paquin is a Canadian and New Zealand-born actress. She was born in Winnipeg but raised in Wellington the city where she was born, she made her first acting appearance in The Piano. In this romantic drama film at the age of 11, Paquin won her second Oscar for Best Actress. Anna Paquin's full name is Anna Helene Paquin. Born on July 24, 1982, at Winnipeg Manitoba Canada, she was a Canadian born New Zealand actress. As a child, Paquin won the Academy Award for best support actress. The role she played as the enthusiastic and lively character Holly Hunter played in The Piano (1993) earned her the honor. When she answered an open call for auditions and was selected for the part, she was cast in the role of Flora McGrath, the daughter of a deaf Scottish pianist who relocates to New Zealand in mid-19th-century to marry. She was only nine years old and did not have any acting experience. As a teenager she emigrated into the United States. Paquin was cast as the child title in Franco Zeffirelli's Jane Eyre in 1996. Also, she was a leading part on the screen in Fly Away Home, a film that was released in the year. Paquin played Frankie Addams in a 1997 television movie adaptation of Carson McCullers' novel The Member of the Wedding and had a minor role as the queen of Spain in Steven Spielberg's Amistad (1997). The actress played teenagers on the screen in Hurlyburly (1998), She's All That (1998), A Walk on the Moon (1998) as well as Almost Famous (2000). She also portrayed the groupie Polexia Aphrodisa.
